CIRCUS DIABLO Frontman To Record Solo Album
January 31, 2008Los Angeles-based rock act CIRCUS DIABLO played as a three-piece last night (Wednesday, January 30) at Venice Rocks in Venice, California. "It's the first time I ever performed on a stage as part of a three-piece band," stated vocalist Billy Morrison. "That means, in case you are having a hard time with the math... there was a drummer (Mr. Charles Ruggiero),a bass player (Sir Patrick Cornell)... and me. Playing guitar, singing, and filling up as much space, both physically and sonically, as I possibly could. It absolutely means I have to work harder on stage (not a bad thing, really) but I was surprised that it also meant having a ton of fun!
"The three of us rocked through a 45-minute set down at Venice Rocks (great club — totally pro, and super-nice to all the bands) and I do believe we might do more of the same at some point. We did make the decision that we are going to hunker down and start working on a few tunes for a forthcoming Billy Morrison album. The three of us work really well together, I have a blast performing with Patrick and Charles, and all of us wanna make a record together. So — that's where my musical focus will fall for the next few months. Let's see what happens and let's see if we can't get that album together."
CIRCUS DIABLO recently posted the song "Mary's Shadow" on the group's MySpace page. The track is a bonus cut recorded during the sessions for the band's self-titled debut album, which came out this past summer via Koch Records.
Matt Sorum (VELVET REVOLVER, ex-GUNS N' ROSES) played drums on the group's CD, which was released on July 3, 2007.
CIRCUS DIABLO's recording lineup on the first album included THE CULT guitarist Billy Duffy, THE ALMIGHTY frontman Ricky Warwick (guitar),Morrison (vocals),and former FUEL/current RIDERS ON THE STORM frontman Brett Scallions (bass).
